UL Underwriters Laboratories

UL is the certification organization for product safety in the USA and Canada.

The corresponding product safety requirements for marketing in North America are tested by Underwriters Laboratories. Depending on the material used and the production processthe ALBA PCB Group’s printed circuit boards are manufactured according to a UL-certified Process in accordance with ZPMV2 (UL USA) or ZPMV8 (UL CAN). The products are classified according to fire protection class UL94 V-0. Special requirements for non-certified or non-certifiable materials or material combinations must be clarified with the production department on a case-by-case basis.

The customer must inform the production department of the application of the UL marking in the desired format before the start of production. Text values such as “UL94 V-0” or the corresponding UL marking number of the production, e.g. “E203656” for the ALBA PCB Group plants, are common.

Production date

All PCBs in series production contain the batch code (date code) in the format

WW/YY (WW=week of year, YY=year).

For a delivery in week 05 of 2021, the code is therefore 05/21. The code is applied to a copper-free position in the solder resist as standard, unless otherwise defined in the customer requirements.

Please note that the batch code applied is not necessarily the date of manufacture, but is mainly used for traceability.

Icons and logos

If required, various symbols, logos, characters, etc. can be applied to the printed circuit board. It is important that these and the data for the individual layers are also available in Gerber format.

We will be happy to convert your logo into Gerber format. Get in touch with us!
